PNP Says 50, 000 Police Pensioners Gone Missing

50, 000 Police Pensioners Gone Missing, PNP Says

The Philippine National Police said that more than half of the 92,000 police pensioners nationwide are missing.

PNP chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa ordered an accounting of police retirees throughout the Philippines after the agency discovered that around 50,000 listed beneficiaries are missing and could not be found.

The PNP Retirement and Benefits Administration Service began to implement the accounting process as a response to the order of Gamboa. Lt. Col. Grace de Castro is the current head of the PRBS pension and gratuity division.

Castro reported that only 42,000 out of 90,000 police retirees have updated their accounts as of 2019. He also revealed that around 50,000 are unaccounted for.

“It’s possible that the pensioners are no longer physically fit to travel to police regional offices to update their accounts,” Castro said.

De Castro said that the cop beneficiaries may update their account at their respective municipal and city police stations starting July 2020. Pensioners can visit the police provincial offices during office hours from Monday to Saturday.

Cop retirees who are unfit to travel could take the biometrics to their homes by informing PRBS about their medical condition. They are required to update their biometrics annually.
