Bacolod City Government Buys Thousand Sets Of Virus Protective Gear
BACOLOD CITY – The government of Bacolod City bought at about a thousand sets of personal protective equipment against COVID-19.
According to Panay News, City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran who chairs the local inter-agency task force on COVID-19. said that they had allocated part of the ₱10-million standby fund last week, which was eventually used to purchase PPE ( personal protective equipment ) sets.
Jomarie Vargas, executive assistant and cluster head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), said that these protective gears will be used by health and rescue personnel in case they respond to cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Each PPE sect costs at around ₱3,750. The set includes protective clothing, gloves, goggles, face masks and other equipment meant to protect the wearer from infection.
As per the report, Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan of the City Health Office, along with personnel from CDRRMO demonstrated how to wear and take off PPEs at the New Government Center on February 17 (Monday).
Vargsas said that the orientation aimed to harmonize the preparedness and response plans of the barangays and to place guidelines in order to avoid, contain, and mitigate the possible transmission of COVID-19.
They also distributed face mask, alcohol and gloves to the barangays of the capital city of Negros Occidental.
