Mandaue City Dawn Fire Left With Former Judge, Wife Dead

MANDAUE CITY – An early morning fire broke out in Mandaue City on Monday (February 17) which left with 2 fatalities and one missing.

According to SunStar, the fatalities were identified as former Municipal Trial Court Judge Gerardo Gestopa, aged 65, and his spouse Louella Gestopa, aged 67.

The couple died inside a burned house in Zamora St in the said city in Metro Cebu.

The responding firefighters are currently looking for their grandson, identified as Jeric who, as of this writing, is currently missing.

The fire department reported that they received the alarm at around 2 AM on that day.

As per the report, initial investigations show that the fire began in the house owned by former head of Mandaue’s traffic office Edwin Ermac.

The city’s mayor Jonas Cortes visited the scene of the fire on Monday morning.

Last week Wednesday, in Luzon, a fire broke out in Quezon City. This resulted in the death of yet another elderly couple who were trapped in the restroom of their house along Neptune street in Barangay Kaligayahan.

The old couple were believed to have died from suffocation.
