The recent one who expressed her side on this issue is Pilita. During a recent interview on TV Patrol, the veteran singer said that she is indebted to the network as she recalled the colorful times she spent under ABS-CBN.

From the time she started the musical show An Evening with Pilita in 1964 until now that she is one of the Tawag ng Tanghalan judges, she saw the best and worst of the network. Pilita Corrales also recalled the time when they had to improvise props for their show as well as the good treatment from the late captain of ABS-CBN Eugenio Lopez.

According to the veteran singer, she was the only one who was allowed to sing at the tower of the network. “It’s something that I will never forget,” she shared. She also recalled the dark chapter that the network went through when it closed during the Martial Law.

“Naku, para akong mamamatay. It was what made me. Where did I become known?” she said. With this, she questioned if that same fate will happen again to ABS-CBN now that the company is facing an issue on its franchise renewal.

For her, she can’t imagine the lives of Filipinos without ABS-CBN. “No, they can’t do it. It will be a disaster. It will affect a lot of lives when ABS-CBN closes,” the veteran singer said during the interview.
