Health authorities from China had reported over 139 more fatalities due to COVID-19. Along with this, more than 2,420 new cases have been confirmed.

With this, more than 66,000 people have now been infected and over 1,519 people have died from the deadly virus.

The sudden increase in the number of cases came after health authorities in Hubei changed their criteria for counting confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

According to a report from ABS-CBN, cases that are “clinically diagnosed” through lung imaging are now considered in addition to those that have shown up positive in laboratory tests.

Due to the change in metrics, the revision added about 15,000 patients to Hubei’s tally on Thursday. Meanwhile, there were over 4,800 cases reported in Hubei on Friday.

Adding to this, more than 1,716 medical workers have been infected with the virus with six fatalities. As per the report, most of the infections among health workers were in Wuhan.

There, many lack proper masks and gear to properly protect themselves in hospitals that deals with a huge amount of potentially infected patients.

Meanwhile, the China National Biotec Group had announced that virus-neutralizing antibodies were extracted from the plasma of recovered patients from the COVID-19.

In addition to this, experiments showed that the antibodies were found to be effective in killing the new coronavirus. The company had prepared for clinical treatment.

The plasma product to treat the novel coronavirus is made from plasma loaded with antibodies donated by recovered patients. It went through virus inactivation and was tested against virus-neutralizing antibodiues and multiple pathogenic microorganisms.
