According to an article from The Guardian, authorities in Wuhan have begun door to door temperature checks in an attempt to round up and quarantine suspected coronavirus patients.

With this, Sun Chunlun, head of the national campaign against the virus stated:

There must be no deserters, or they will be nailed to the pillar of historical shame forever.

Currently, there have been more than 34,000 people infected with the deadly virus worldwide. Meanwhile, 719 deaths have been confirmed by health authorities with only two deaths outside of China.

As per the report, the death rate in Wuhan was 4.1%. This war far higher than Hubei’s 2.8% death rate, and the national rate of 2%.

In addition, some in Wuhan grow fears that they are being sacrificed for the national good. Moreover, the death of the whistleblower doctor stirred up anger across mainland China.

In December, Li alerted his colleagues about a potential SARS-like virus outbreak. This gained the attention of the authorities. Afterward, he was summoned and forced to sign a reprimand letter where he was accused of “spreading rumors online” and “severely disrupting social order”.

Li was just one of several medics being censored by the police for trying to expose the truth in the early days of the virus outbreak. The doctor was hospitalized on January 12 and he tested positive for the virus on February 1.
