Final preparations are being made in order to bring Filipinos back home from the province of Hubei this weekend.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to the Wuhan coronavirus still had no sign of slowing down. There are currently over 618 deaths due to the virus with more than 841 patients under critical condition.

The brave volunteers from DFA have taken the risk for the repatriation of their fellow countrymen who have become OFWs in Wuhan, China.

According to a report from the Manila Times, Mark Anthony Geguera and Mr. Sanny Darren Bejarin of the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai met with the Filipino community and the foreign affairs office in Hubei to discuss the repatriation plans.

As per the report, on Thursday, there were a total of 45 Filipinos confirmed for the repatriation. Afterward, as they arrive in the Philippines, they are to be brought to the Athlete’s Village in New Clark City in Tarlac.

There, they would undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine as per the guidelines of the Department of Health (DoH).

The heads of the repatriation operation would be Geguera and Bejarin. Both of them were also in tight coordinations with another team from the DFA Home office that would be flying to Wuhan to assist the operation.

Filipinos in China were given until February 5 to decide whether or not they would take advantage of the service provided by the Philippine Government.
