FILIPINOS FROM CHINA – The first batch of Pinoys from China will arrive in the Philippines on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

Amid the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus in China, several Pinoys have expressed their desire to come home to the Philippines. Many are worried about their safety in the foreign country which has some parts now under a lock-down.

Wuhan City, the epicenter of the disease, is currently under a lock-down now. Nearly 8,000 people in China were infected by nCoV and at least 425 lost their lives to the outbreak.

The Philippine government has previously expressed willingness to assist in the repatriation of Pinoys in China. However, it also stressed that the decision must be well-coordinated with the authorities abroad.

Several countries have already repatriated their citizens from China. The Philippines is also set to bring home several Filipinos from China amid the outbreak of the coronavirus in the foreign country.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the first batch of Filipinos from China will arrive to the Philippines on Saturday. They are from Hubei Province.

These Pinoys will be placed in a facility designated for the quarantine period. Based on the report, the Mega Drug Rehab Center in Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija will be used for the 14-day quarantine of these Pinoys.

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III has already visited and checked the facility. In one room, there are two (2) beds, a table, an electric fan, and two (2) chairs.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has ordered the DOH Secretary to personally welcome the Pinoys who will arrive from China this Saturday. The President also wants to be there but it still needs the approval of the presidential securities.
