Meralco Exerts Extra Effort To Restore Electricity After Taal Eruption

The Manila Electric Company or popularly known as Meralco is now exerting efforts and works hard to restore the power in affected areas after Taal’s Eruption.

Few weeks ago, Taal Volcano erupted and displaced thousands of residents along Batangas, Cavite, and Tagaytay. Most residents were forced to temporarily take shelter at evacuation centers due to the continuous volcanic activities.

The volcano continues to emit ash plumes, small stones, and other volcanic elements that cause damage to numerous houses and establishments. The massive ash fall covered the houses with ashes.

Taal Volcano

On Monday (February 03, 2020), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that Taal Volcano emitted ash plumes, generates earthquakes that signifies another eruption.

Taal Volcano starts to show irregularities since Sunday (February 2) indicating the magmatic activity beneath. The volcanic activities could lead to another eruptive activity at the main crater of the volcano.

Phivolcs said that the volcano emits ash plumes of about 800 meters high along with sulfur dioxide recorded at an average of 97 tons a day. Moderately strong tremors have been also felt along Batangas.

The volcanology agency also warned the residents to take precautionary measures against ash falls, earthquakes, gas expulsions, and another possible eruption.

Taal’s volcanic activities also shut down the electricity in several areas after damaging electric facilities.

Meralco

Meralco has conducted round the clock work to restore the power in the areas affected by the volcanic eruption. The electric company has now completely restore the power of all distribution lines and circuits affected by the ashfall.
