Exhausted Wuhan doctors treating virus-infected patients spotted sleeping on hospital floors and benches after non-stop work.
The death toll of a coronavirus outbreak sweeping China has reached at least 213, with more than 9,700 people infected as of early Thursday. Cases have spread to every province and region in China as well at least 19 other countries.
These past days, hospitals in China are now experiencing severe overcrowding due to the growing number of patients infected with the deadly Wuhan virus. As a result, doctors and nurses are forced to work non-stop. Some have even resorted to wearing diapers because they don’t have enough time to use the toilet.
In an article of World of Buzz, several netizens took to Weibo to share photos of medical staff from a Chinese hospital, claiming they slept on the floor and banks with the limited rest time they had. The post was captioned, “They are the true heroes of this country.”
The article also shared the reposted photo of China’s “CCTV News” portal of the doctors having rest time with a caption “They are fighting hard for us! They are fighting the virus, salute!” Other netizens express their reactions to the photos with thankful messages and encouraging tired doctors.
The article also added that another netizen took the opportunity to remind others that they should not accept the comfort and leisure of their own life for granted.
“Those who complain that they’re bored at home, look at them [doctors]. They can’t go home. They can’t even sleep on a bed. [Meanwhile], we live comfortable lives. Cherish it.”
Some also said that doctors generally lead tough lives, advising netizens to treat medical professionals with the respect they deserve even after the epidemic has passed. Without these brave doctors, mankind is imminent to the apocalypse.
