According to ABS-CBN News, the passenger, identified as Police Staff Sergeant Ronald Carpio, took a ride in a cab that was driven by Elmer Tubil in a gasoline station in Macapagal Road heading to a condominium in Dr. A. Santos Avenue.

Carpio wondered why the cab driver took a u-turn and headed for the dimmed C-5 extension instead of the destination he was heading. Carpio deduced that the driver allegedly attempt to rob him, prompting him to ready his service firearm.

The taxi driver eventually declared a stick-up against the police, aiming at the latter. Carpio then immediately shot the suspect.

As per the report, Police Colonel Robin Sarmiento of Parañaque Police said that the driver, as well as the vehicle’s plate had a record in the station, adding that the fatality received many complaints form its previous passengers. Both the interior and exterior of the cab are rendered suspicious.

Recovered in the crime scene was the revolver presumably owned by the cab driver to use against Carpio, as well as some sachets of suspected drugs.
