However, with the rampant spread of the new Wuhan Coronavirus all over China, millions of residents fear for their health, including some Chinese students being taught by Filipinos online.

A Facebook post made by Novae Dell Durato-Ceniza showed a conversation between her and one of her students from China. Amidst the Wuhan virus outbreak, her student said:

I am sorry if you can’t see me. I am very sick

Naturally concerned, Novae told her student that she could cancel their class and reschedule so the student could get some rest. But, what her students said broke the hearts of thousands.

Her post went viral garnering over 6.1 thousand reactions and had been shared over 8 thousand times. Netizens then expressed their sympathy in the comment section.

One netizen also shared her experience with her Chinese students. She shared that two of her students were positive for the virus.

Sa akin nmn 2 students ko positive.. Nag iyakan lng kami kagabi kasi mamamatay na daw xa. Mas worst wala na daw cla mask dun andaming gusto mabuhay at magpa gamot sa ibang hospital pero hindi na cla allowed umalis ng city

(In my case, 2 of my students were positive, we ended up crying the entire night because they said they would die. What’s worst is that there are no masks left. There are so many that wanted to live and get help from other hospitals but they weren’t allowed to leave the city.)

Residents in China were reported to have struggled with getting a diagnosis for their symptoms. In addition, hospitals are getting flooded with patients as medical workers struggle to cope with the virus.
