One of the Victims in the Accident in a Bridge in Negros Occidental, A Baby, Died
BABY – A 5-month-old infant who was one of those who fell off the bridge in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental died.
Last Sunday, January 19, 2020, a lot of people gathered in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental for the Sinulog Festival 2020. Undeniably, this is one of the most prominent festivals in the Philippines.
Not only Filipinos from the different cities came to Kabankalan but as well as foreigners who wanted to join and experience the fun. The streets were filled with people who are eager to watch the street dance competition.
A lot of activities are part of the Sinulog Festival 2020 celebration. One of them is the fluvial parade for the feast of the Sto. Niño.
However, amid the fluvial parade and the excitement of the people watching it, an accident took place. It involved the people who were standing in a bridge in Barangay Camugao to watch for the parade.
While they were watching the fluvial parade, one of the cables of the bridge was cut. Several people fell from the bridge while others managed to hold on to something.
Sadly, one of those who fell is a 5-month-old who was reportedly rushed to the hospital to be revived. The infant was with the mother when the incident happened.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the baby who was one of those who fell off the bridge in Negros Occidental died. It was at 5:00 pm the following day when the infant passed away.
According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) operations head Judson Cabalatungan, the parents of the infant expressed that water was spotted in the lungs of their 5-month-old child.
There was a total of eight (8) people who fell from the bridge in Kabankalan City. They were instantly given a first-aid as rescuers were present at the site.
