The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that due to the eruption of Taal volcano, 12,370 families remained on evacuation centers in the said provinces as of Thursday.

According to ABS-CBN News, this was followed up by a forced evacuation initiated by some local government units (LGUs) to areas within the danger zone at about 14 kilometer radius near the volcano.

The risk reduction council added that 53,832 individuals are in 244 evacuation centers as of today. This is even higher than the recorded 10,455 families as of yesterday.

As per the report, Taal is still under alert level 4 in lieu of its eruption. This is due to its possible imminent deadly eruption.

PHIVOLCS said that the water in the volcano’s crater lake has drained due to its continued activity. The now drained lake was spotted in newly acquired satellite images.

However, the institute clarified that these are not signs for eruption.
