According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), 2,370 families remained on evacuation centers in Batangas and Cavite due to the eruption of Taal Volcano.

NDRRMC added that 53,832 individuals are in 244 evacuation centers as of today, which is even higher than the recorded 10,455 families as of yesterday.

A report in Inquirer states that the first batch of Chinese cabbages, potatoes and chayote from the municipality of Kabayan, Benguet has been delivered to the evacuees, according to Catherine Odanos, one of the farmers.

They also aimed to harvest more vegetables from other farmers in Benguet to distribute them to thousands of evacuees on January 24 (Friday).

As per the report, farmer Amy Guinaran said that they were also gathering goods such as bottled water, medicines, clothes and canned goods.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that Taal Volcano still remains under alert level 4. The institute repeated that total evacuation of the volcano island, especially in high-risk areas, is a must.

Newly acquired satellite images show that the volcano’s crater lake has been drained due to its continued activity. This is in relation to the movement of magma up the volcano.
