The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that from 2:49 AM up to 4:28 AM, the Taal Volcano spewed lava fountains during a magmatic eruption, which was followed by thunder and flashes of lightning.

Batangas was placed under a state of calamity, resulted in the evacuation of about 36,000 people and classes and government work suspended as of the moment.

Meanwhile, in Tagaytay, water supply and electricity have become a huge issue in the area.

According to ABS-CBN News, in a live report by Angel Movido in Umagang Kay Ganda, operation from certain hotels, malls, and tourist destinations were not yet back to normal prior to the eruption.

She added that businesses are still affected since the city is covered with ashfall, adding that the administration reported that the source for the city’s water supply was affected by the ashfall, hence, residents are relying on deep wells.

The local government unit (LGU) is in collaboration with certain water districts to provide water for the residents.

As per the report, the city administrator said that they had a hard time bringing back the electricity due to the mud from the streets that are yet to be cleared.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) earlier ordered the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to deploy their units in order to aid with the road clearing operation.

The Department of Public Works and Highways, on the other hand, closed the following roads due to zero visibility:

  • Tanawan-Talisay-Tagaytay Road
  • Tagaytay-Taal Lake Road
  • Talisay-Tagaytay Road in Cavite
