Cebu City will be celebrating its 455th Sinulog-Santo Niño Festival on the third Sunday of January this year. The festival is considered one of the most popular festivals in the Philippines.
The celebration attracts millions of tourists and devotees from all over the country. The festival is also famous for its street parties. It usually happens at night before the main festival.
Based on a report from the Manila Bulletin, the organizers of Sinulog 2020 are all set for the annual celebration. They are expecting a 10-15% increased in tourist and devotees’ arrival.
On Thursday, January 9, marked the start of the festival. Thousands of devotees attend the mass at the Pilgrim Center of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño. Most of them brought their replicas of the child Jesus. This year’s theme is titled “Santo Niño: Cause of Our Unity and Charity.”
