This is the history of Sarah Geronimo’s Tala
Sarah Geronimo Tala – The history of the song of the Popstar Princess that has become a dance craze is finally revealed.
The said song of the Kapamilya star became a nationwide trend as netizens, as well as celebrities, have been uploading on social media their own dance covers. Indeed, the song that was released in 2015 for Sarah’s The Great Unknown album gained popularity again.
How did this viral song come to life?
Based on the article from The Philippine Star, the song almost did not make it to the said album of the Popstar Princess. Nica del Rosario, the composer/lyricist of Tala shared that it was the last song that was added to the album.
“After a while, tumawag po yung Viva sa amin, kulang pa kami ng one song, baka gusto niyo mag-pitch ulit?” he said. Nica is the head writer for FlipMusic Productions, which has been supplying music to Viva Records, the record label of Sarah.
According to Nica, since Sarah’s peg, that time was indie-pop, they came up with a slower version of Tala. Then, the Popstar Princess asked for the final revision because she wanted it to be a dance song. Nica said that Jumbo “Bojam” de Belen, the FlipMusic head producer, was the one who transformed the song’s beat to what it is now.
“During the recording, kinukwento nga ni Sarah, gusto niya at ini-envision niya na maging dance craze, na gagawa po sila ng choreography,” the composer revealed.
With this nationwide success of the song, Nica said that she is very grateful. “OK, naging anthem siya ng LGBT community at sumikat sa mga Popsters, yun na yun. I didn’t expect it to reach this level, nationwide, and that everywhere I go, I would hear it,” she enthused.
Based on the article, Sarah Geronimo Tala has secured a spot on Spotify’s Global Viral 50. It is a playlist of the “most shared and most trending tracks across the entire world.”
