ISKO DEFENDS DRUG WAR – Manila Mayor Isko Moreno defended the Duterte Administration’s war on drugs following the release on Vice President Leni Robredo’s report.

Yesterday, the Vice President made public her findings during her stint as the drug czar. According to Robredo, Duterte’s war on drugs was a “massive failure“.

She cited that only one percent of the illegal narcotics was seized since the start of the campaign. However, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno thought Robredo’s comments were unfair.

He added that the men risk their lives to fight in the drug war. Moreno believed that it wasn’t right to dismiss what the men on the ground went through.

During an interview with ABS-CBN, Moreno also stated that he wasn’t comfortable with what Robredo said about the campaign.

The Manila mayor highlighted that Duterte was the only president who came after the drug syndicates confrontationally. He added that you had to give credits to his efforts.

Hindi yan biro, ang lalim ng droga, mula pa dekado 80 lumala yan“, he continued. Moreno then explained that the root of the problem was already too deep and would take “quite some time” to resolve.

When asked what grade he would give to the law enforcement task to the drug war, he said that he thought they did fairly. He also cited how the campaign addressed a concern with limited resources utilized.

In the interview, he was also asked if he could attest that the 164 barangays are drug-free. He stated that there has been a strict enforcement of laws that prevent the spread of drugs.
