Pokwang Slams Theaters For Early Removal Of MMFF Films Culion, Mindanao
POKWANG SLAMS THEATERS – Pokwang laments over the early pullout of films like Culion and Mindanao just days after the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival.
The actress posted on Facebook her thoughts on some theatre’s decision to pull out the movies. Pokwang expressed her sadness in the post, saying “Nakakalungkot naman ang asal ng karamihan ng sinehan sa pinas!!“
She called out the theater industry in the country and said that films shouldn’t be just about money. Following this, she told the industry that you can’t bring money in the afterlife.
History yan ika nga ano ba kayo???Marietta Subong
In addition to this, Pokwang explained that she doesn’t want to sound smart or pretend that she’s an honor student. Instead, she wanted to emphasize that the efforts of the team behind “smaller” movies would be invalidated.
In her post, she also suggested a solution to the situation: “Kahit tig isang sinehan lang sana sa bawat mall nationwide, sana next time ang hindi mag participate na sinehan ay wag din lagyan ng mga malalakas na movie!”.
To finish off her comments regarding the state of the theater industry in the country, she said that malls should at least do this small sacrifice. With this, she highlighted that the MMFF only happens once a year.
