Family Won’t Bail on Viral Woman Beating Saleslady in Cebu
The family of the viral woman who struck a saleslady with a humidifier in a mall in Cebu will not bail her and allegedly want her to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
In a previous article, the woman named Medelina Yamazaki who struck a saleslady with a humidifier in a mall in Cebu became viral on social media elicited comments from the netizens. She got arrested and jailed by the Cebu City Police.
Medelina Yamazaki’s family has refused to release the woman who was arrested for assaulting a sales assistant at a mall in Cebu, according to the report of SunStar Cebu.
According to Chief Investigator Jeffrey Larrobis of the Mabolo Police Station, Yamazaki’s family wants the woman to undergo psychiatric evaluation. Yamazaki also did not file a counter-affidavit and a right to preliminary investigation before the inquest proceeding.
Larrobis also informed his family that the case against Yamazaki has been filed in court. Larrobis found out that Yamazaki had previously suffered abuse according to his relatives’ statement.
She also experienced postpartum depression after giving birth. According to Larrobis, Yamazaki’s family asked him to move it to a psychiatric facility.
But this is a defiance of the legal procedure, because a person cannot be released without an order from the prosecutor or the court. In Yamazaki’s case, it is necessary to have the bail first before being released from the detention cell.
And if his family continues to refuse, police will demand a court order for Yamazaki to be transferred to Cebu City Jail.
