The agency earlier announced that they will implement the stop-and-go scheme as the 30th SEA Games reach its close on December 11 (Wednesday).

2,000 personnel will be deployed in key areas to implement the scheme until Friday (December 13).

Recently, the agency ordered the malls to shut off their entrances along EDSA in order to ease the traffic, especially on holiday rush.

According to ABS-CBN News, the agency traffic head Bong Nebrija requested mall operators to cooperate with them in managing traffic inside their stores rather than waiting for their plea to close their entrances.

“Kung puno na po sila sa loob isarado na po nila yung papasok sa kanila, para po hindi tutukod sa main thoroughfares natin, lalong lalo na po sa EDSA.”

(If traffic inside their mall is already heavy, they should close their entrances so it will not affect our main thoroughfares, especially EDSA.)

Based on the report, there are about 17 malls are located along EDSA, which stretches fromCaloocan City to Pasay City. The entry points for these malls are a common source of gridlocks.

The agency further suggested operators to start mall hours by 11 AM, and the delivery of goods by 11 PM up to 5 AM. This is in order to reduce the volume of delivery trucks.
