Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay Appointed As New Philippine Army Chief

NEW PHILIPPINE ARMY CHIEF – Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay was appointed as the new commander of the Philippine Army.

In the Philippines, among the forces that are tasked to maintain the security in the country and to defend it from those who wanted to invade it is the Philippine Army. One has to go through severe training to join the said body as huge responsibilities await.

Currently, the Philippine Army is led by Lieutenant General Macairog Alberto. But he is set to retire this December 6, 2019 so a new commander has to be appointed.

The appointment is within the discretion of the Chief Executive of the country, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The appointment will undergo the confirmation by an Armed Forces chief.

Based on a recent report on GMA News, Pres. Duterte has appointed Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay to be the new Philippine Army chief. He is part of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1986.

Also, the newly-appointed Philippine Army Chief is a former head of the Southern Luzon Command. Reportedly, his appointment has already been confirmed by Armed Forces Chief General Noel Clement.
