Authorities Arrest Fake SEA Games Admin Staff

FAKE SEA GAMES ADMIN – The authorities from Makati City arrested an individual who claimed he was an official employee of the Philippine Sports Commission and an admin staff of the 2019 SEA Games.

The 48-year-old man was arrested after he offered people a job in the SEA Games in exchange for money. One victim was offered P20,000 to become a driver for 8 days.

However, the victim said that the suspect asked P350 from him as payment for the medical examination. The suspect even wore a “uniform” of the 30th SEA Games with the label “admin staff” and an ID.

Aside from the job, he also offered board and lodging. The victim added that the suspect got a lot of money from his scams.

He said that the suspect swindled P10,000 from him. It was for a one-month advance deposit, the victim said.

According to a report from ABS-CBN, the victims that the suspect targeted were primarily victims of the fire in Brgy. San Isidro, Makati City. Those people were temporarily living in the barangay hall.

When the victims still weren’t able to transfer to the promised rental home, they got suspicious. From there, they went to report the incident to the authorities.

Ironically, the suspect was caught by the authorities wearing the same pink “uniform” he used to scam people. In his defense, he said that he was just going through a tough time.

The scam artist is now paying for the crimes he has committed as he has been filed with cases of swindling and estafa.
