An Indonesian lady tourist in Singapore was arrested and jailed for 14 hours because of armpit powder mistaken identified by police as illegal drugs.

Singapore is known for its impeccable cleanliness and low crime rate. The country has such a strong reputation for being safe that the authorities had to put out a warning stating that “low crime does not mean no crime,” reminding people to stay vigilant.

Recently, a Facebook user named “Stanley Paruntu” share his daughter’s experience in Singapore while celebrating her birthday. His daughter named “Sharonia Paruntu” was allegedly arrested and put to jail for 14 hours because of her armpit powder mistaken identified as an illegal drugs by the police.

According to the post, Sharonia was just celebrating her birthday when the police suddenly came and questioned her. A hotel staff allegedly saw a package of suspected illegal drugs as it repairing broken glass in the tourist room.

As such, it immediately sued to the authorities, about seven to nine policemen and two hotel staff were also responding. Sharonia was asked what was the content of the small ziplock bag that often contained by illegal drugs.

She boldly answered that it was an alum she was putting on her armpit to avoid bad smell. But because police were not satisfied with her answer he was handcuffed and put them into jail.

After the tests were performed, they were released after 14 hours. Sharonia was deeply disappointed because besides the loss of her precious day, they were treated as criminals.

Even worse, Sharonia paid for the broken glass where the alum was found. But after her mother complained, the money was returned.
