Journalist Raffy Tulfo said that the issue with teacher Melita Limjuco became a “circus” because of people who are “nakikisawsaw”.
It can be recalled that Raffy received criticisms from netizens due to his judgement against teacher Melita who received child abuse complaint from her student’s mother. The journalist made the 55-year old teacher choose.
Teacher Melita chose to give up her profession as a teacher in order not to face charges. This did not sit well with the netizens and the teacher received support from the online community.
Regarding this issue, based on the article from PEP, Raffy Tulfo expressed that it has become a circus already. “Dito po sa nangyaring circus, marami pong nakikisawsaw. Hindi ko alam kung ano po yung pakay nila kung bakit nakikisawsaw na, kung tutuusin, wala na pong problema dahil hindi na nga matutuloy yung aking naging suggestion,” he said.
Raffy stressed out that he already retracted his judgement so he is wondering why people are still discussing about it. He also asked the public to think about the welfare of the child. “Now, sana po ang aking kahilingan and I’m appealing to the public. Kung kinakailangan po na ako’y magmakaawa sa inyo, please spare the child,” the journalist said.
He added that those people who are still attacking are affecting the child who according to him is in trauma right now. Raffy said that he talked to the parents’ child. “Yung bata po, hindi nakakatulog na, hindi nakakakain. Yung bata po, kung minsan kinakausap, hindi po nakapagsasalita,” he shared.
Raffy Tulfo also had this statement to the people who he called “nakikisawsaw”. “Now, ito pong sasabihin ko sa mga sawsawero, you cannot stop me. I-bash niyo ako, maghapon, magdamag, I will keep doing what I am doing, which is to protect the children who are being abused, who are being maltreated,” he said based on the article.
