Isko Moreno Led the Inauguration of Jones Bridge

ISKO MORENO – Manila Mayor Isko Moreno led the inauguration of 220-meter historical Jones Bridge in Binondo on November 24, 2019.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is one of the most admired politicians today. People admired and idolized him for his passion in bringing back the glory of the nation’s capital.

In October, the 45-year-old mayor’s wife Dianna Lynn Ditan joined him in his night inspection at Jones Bridge in Binondo Manila. In a report, several netizens reacted to the design of the lampposts at the historical sight.

After months of rehabilitating Jones Bridge, Isko Moreno inaugurated the newly refurbished historic bridge in Binondo yesterday, November 24, 2019. Lots of people went to witness the inauguration of the historic site. In a report, the government of Manila temporarily closed some roads for the event.

Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, the ‘La Madre Filipina’ statue will also be returning to its original home. The National Parks Development Committee and the City of Manila signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the reinstallation of the sculpture at Jones Bridge.

One of the four statues was damaged during World War II. The other statue was installed at Rizal Park while the other two are relocated to the Court of Appeals.

According to the report, the rehabilitation of Jones Bridge is part of Isko Moreno’s campaign promise. He said the restoration of the historical sites in Manila could attract more tourist. They installed 80 new lampposts, Solar road studs, and plants on the historical bridge.

Based on the report, the bridge in Binondo is also known as the “Queen of the Bridges.” The design was made by architect Juan M. Arellano. The bridge was named after William Atkinson Jones who authored the “Jones Law” or the Philippine Autonomy Act of 1916.
