PAGASA – Tropical Depression Sarah Emerges, Ramon Weakens

PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA said that Ramon recently weakened into a tropical storm while the now tropical depression Sarah nears Luzon.

The bureau said in an 8 AM advisory that Ramon was last seen in the city of Tugegarao in Cagayan. It was packed with maximum sustained winds of about 85 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 140 kilometers per hour.

According to ABS-CBN News, Ramon, the 18th storm to enter the Philippines this year 2019, is expected to weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) within the next 24 hours.

However, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals or TCWS are currently raised in the following:

  • Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 (61 to 120 kilometers per hour within 24 hours)
    • Abra
    • Apayao
    • Batanes
    • Cagayan
      • Babuyan Islands
    • Ilocos Norte
    • Ilocos Sur
    • Kalinga
  • Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 (30 to 60 kilometers per hour within 36 hours)
    • Benguet
    • Ifugao
    • North part of Isabela
      • Sta. Maria
      • San Pablo
      • Maconacon
      • Cabagan
      • Sto. Tomas
      • Quezon
      • Tumauini
      • Divilacan
      • Quirino
      • Roxas
      • Mallig
      • San Manuel
      • Burgos
      • Gamu
      • Ilagan City
    • La Union
    • Mountain Province
    • Pangasinan

Based on the report, Ramon will still bring light to moderate with chances of heavy rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Apayao. and the north part of Ilocos Norte.

Ilocos Sur, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Isabela, and the rest of Ilocos Norte, on the other hand, will face light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains.

On the other hand, the bureau is currently monitoring the now tropical depression Sarah. It was last seen at about 750 kilometers east of the town of Infanta, Quezon.

Sarah is packed with maximum winds of about 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of about 70 kilometers per hour. It is expected to hit northern Luzon.
