PAGASA – Ramon Intensifies, Four Areas Under Signal No. 2

PAGASA – PAGASA recently said that tropical storm Ramon intensified further; and Signal No. 2 was raised over four areas in the Philippines.

According to ABS-CBN, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) number 2 was raised over the following areas:

  • Cagayan
    • Babuyan Islands
  • North part of Isabela
    • Sta. Maria
    • Sta. Pablo
    • Maconacon
    • Cabagan
    • Sto. Tomas
    • Quezon
    • Delfino Albano
    • Tumauini
    • Divilacan
  • Apayao
  • Kalinga

The bureau added that TCWS number 1 is still raised over the following areas:

  • Batanes
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • Abra
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao
  • Northern Aurora
    • Dilasag
    • Casiguran
    • Dinalungan
  • rest of Isabela

Ramon was last seen at about 210 kilometers east northeast of the town of Casiguran, Aurora.

The tropical storm was packed with maximum sustained winds of about 85 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 105 kilometers per hour.

The storm is more likely to make landfall on Northern Cagayan on Monday night or Tuesday morning. It is reported to move north west at about 10 kilometers per hour.

Based on the report, light to moderate with chances of heavy rains will prevail over the eastern portions of Cagayan and Isabela.

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains due to Ramon will prevail over the rest of Cagayan and Isabela, Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Abra, and Ilocos Norte.

A low pressure are (LPA), on the other hand was last seen at about 1,860 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. It is more likely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The bureau further warned fishermen of high risk on sea travel over the seaboards of the areas under TCWS, the western seaboard of northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of Central and South Luzon.
