PAGASA – Quiel Intensified Into A Severe Tropical Storm

PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA recently said that the tropical storm Quiel has recently intensified into a severe tropical storm.

The bureau said in an 11 AM weather update that the now severe tropical storm which was last seen at about 360 kilometers west northwest of the town of Coron, Palawan.

According to Inquirer, it is currently packed with maximum sustained winds of up to 95 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 115 kilometers per hour. It is currently seen moving east at a very slow pace.

The weather disturbance might intensify into a typhoon in the next 48 hours. It is less likely to make landfall.

Based on the report, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands and Apayao will face light to moderate with chances of heavy rains.

The following areas will face light to intermittent heavy rains:

  • Kalinga
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Palawan
  • Mindoro provinces
  • Antique
  • Iloilo
  • Guimaras

As mentioned before, for the forcast wind speed, north Luzon face strong winds moving north east and rough coastal waters.

Western parts of Central and South Luzon face moderate to strong winds moving southwest to southeast with moderate to rough coastal waters.

Visayas and the rest of Luzon face moderate to strong winds moving southwest with moderate to rough coastal waters.

Mindanao will face light to moderate winds moving southwest to west with slight to moderate coastal waters.
