Over 60 Baby Pawikan in Quezon Released by DENR

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources together with other local government agencies released over 60 baby pawikan in Quezon.

Nowadays, olive ridley sea turtle or also known as Pacific ridley sea turtle is the second smallest and most abundant sea turtles all around the world. This marine species can be usually found in warm and tropical waters particularly in the Pacific and the Indian Ocean.

In the Philippines, the government and environmentalists prohibit people to poach turtles and its eggs, meat, skin, and shells. Anyone who will violate this environmental policy would face corresponding sanctions and penalties.

Environmentalists are also encouraging the public to take care of marine species and let them live free in their sanctuary.

Recently, a Facebook user named Sherwin Willian Rosales has shared the video and photos of 62 baby pawikan (olive ridley species) released at Sitio Aplaya Brgy.Bignay 1 Sariaya in Quezon.

DENR released the baby sea turtles together with Tanggol Kalikasan, NISU, SB Bignay 1, OMA FLET, BFAR FPLEG Team, and some concerned citizens of Brgy. Bignay 1 Sariaya.
