Volcanoes are among the most beautiful but deadly things on earth. They are naturally occurring vents that release pressure and magma from the Earth’s crust.
They spew out smoke, rock, ash, and lava. However, volcanoes could also cause catastrophic damage to around their area.
There are primarily 5 types of volcanoes known. These are:
- Fissure Volcanoes
- Shield Volcanoes
- Stratovolcanoes
- Cinder Cone
- Caldera
The fissure volcanoes are also known as the plateau basalt. This type of volcano has no mountain or hill and is simply a gap on the surface of the earth where volcanic activity erupts.
Shield Volcano – These are generally massive, rounded, mountainous volcanoes that have a large crater at the top of the mountain.
These types of mountains increase in size and height as they erupt over and over again throughout the centuries.
Stratovolcanoes – This is also called a composite volcano. These are also the most dangerous when it erupts.
They often have a steep slope and are mostly symmetrical. Adding to this, they can rise up to 10,000 feet above the sea level.
Cinder Cone – These are small volcanoes that are easily characterized by their small height. They usually are around 1,000 feet.
The cinder cone is almost made up entirely of lava let out during eruptions. There is also a single crater at the top.
Caldera – Caldera could be seen as a glimpse into a very violent past. This type of crater is the result of another violent eruption.
