The UP Visayas Skimmers made a cheer performance which satirically slammed the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The controversial video gained positive reactions from some netizens. However, it also drew flak from others, especially supporters of the Duterte administration who are enraged at the cheer.

In their defense, they claimed that it is satirical and they said nothing wrong, saying that it is “freedom of expression”.

Duterte supporters said, however, that it is not a freedom of expression but an act of sedition, citing the students jokingly urging the nation to kill the President.

Erwin Tulfo addressed the question whether or not it is a freedom of expression or an act of sedition.

He initially agreed that we have the right to freedom of expression. He said, however, that it is no longer freedom if people chooses to trample the freedom of other people.

He also admitted that he once joined a rally and he was angry at the previous presidents but they only said to overthrow and dismantle the dictatorship and kick out the president but never said anything about killing the president.
