John Lloyd Cruz Speaks; Actor’s Revelations About Film Appearance

John Lloyd Cruz finally ending his showbiz hiatus?

JOHN LLOYD CRUZ – The Kapamilya actor John Lloyd Cruz breaks his silence after his trending appearance in “Culion” film teaser.

Culion” is a piece made to be included and vying a spot for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival starring Iza Calzado, Meryl Soriano and Jasmine Curtis-Smith. The story is about Anna, Doris, and Ditas who were all stricken with Hansen’s Disease (or widely known as leprosy) who live in Culion at a time when the disease is practically a life sentence.

The title of the role is the same to the place in Palawan which was previously used to isolate those who got infected with leprosy. And the MMFF hopeful released it’s trailer on Monday which apparently showed the controversial actor John Lloyd Cruz as part of the film.

This has then led to speculations that the actor is finally ending his show business hiatus. But the actor stated otherwise. In an official statement he sent to ANCX in an SMS message, he clarified his film appearance so as not to mislead the audience who are hoping for his come back to the limelight:

“I thought including me in the teaser was preemptive. It was the opposite of what I actually requested and agreed on. But as much as I am drawn to the idea of letting my work, of any kind, have its own life and take its own course in terms of output (unmindful of how it mutates, grows and sometimes gets diminished) I am also wary of misleading an audience,” continued Cruz. “That wouldn’t be fair. Hence, I felt compelled to clarify my participation in the film.”

  1. I thought John Lloyd is coming back to the limelight. He is my fave actor among his contemporaries and i really miss his absence from Philippine cinema. I hope he changes his mind even one movie a year…
