According to ABS-CBN, a car owner, nicknamed “Ka Ed”, sent his dismay over an officer-in-charge identified as Ariel Inton from Task Force for Transport and Traffic Management, who was caught on video that he used what seemed to be a wrench to break the window of Ka Ed’s car before it was towed away from the parking area in front of a condo.

The owner, in an interview by ABS-CBN’s DZMM, was unaware that his car was towed since he was not notified about the towing.

He described the act as arrogant and oppressive and he wanted Inton to be immediately removed. Inton eventually apologized and said that he overdid it.

“Yung isang magandang-magandang sasakyan na hinatak niya, hindi naman po niya binasag eh. ‘Yung sasakyan kong luma na at akala niya po siguro ako ay taong ordinary lamang at siguro pananaw niya mahirap lang ito, hindi makakalaban, eh napag-initan po ang aking sasakyan.”

Ka Ed further added, however, that he already filed against the czar for carnapping, saying that they had no reason for taking his car.

As per the report, Ka Ed described it as taking without consent, against the will of the owner, and taking with intent to gain. The gain, according to him, is not about the car nor the money, but rather the popularity, which he finds it arrogant, whimsical, capricious and oppressive.

Inton earlier cited a 2004 city ordinance allows local authorities to confiscate vehicles parked on streets and other public places. Ka Ed however, claimed that the car was not illegally parked.
