TITO SOTTO – The Senate President Tito Sotto, along golden anniversary with wife Helen Gamboa, shared something amazing as part of their love.
Marking their 50th year together, indeed lasting love exists. Way back 1967, she was a beauty queen and an actress when he who was then a recording artist and record producer met. And that is Senate President Tito Sotto and veteran actress Helen Gamboa.
It was all a love at first sight for the senator and right there and then after meeting, he knew a life ahead of him with her. She was raised in a very strict and conservative family, thus, the secret courting. A year after, they have this mutual understanding and in 1969, they eloped and got married secretly.
And after the wedding, the formal courtship happened and despite the fact that they have already tied the knot, he only gets to three days in a week to visit her. It was their situation being not on the same house but not until their church wedding in January 1971.
In a report from GMA, he even shared, “Nung magtanan kami nung 1969, tumalon siya sa bakod. Itinakbo ko siya sa Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Ikinasal kami sa pari dahil nawawala yung piskal. Ibinalik ko siya nung hapon na, at ang laki ng problema namin pag-uwi.”
And when they eloped, Sotto shared a shot of the exact dress his wife was wearing when they ran away. In a post, he wrote, “This is the dress she wore when we eloped 50 years ago!”
