Grapefruit Service, Inc. was the company who had employed these 274 Chinese Nationals. Its CEO Xinfeng Ou then gave a letter addressed to the Immigration Commissioner, Jamie Morente.

In the letter, he said that those arrested in their Pasic City branches all have valid passports. He then added that most have working visas.

These visas were said to be issued by the Cagayan Special Economic Zone Authority (Ceza). Xinfeng also added that the other workers captured had already applied for Ceza working visas.

Afterwards he stated that the visas are already being processed. Moreover, he said that the rest are either visitors or relatives of Grapefruit Service Inc. employees.

The CEO of the company then stressed that his company is not a corporation that is into online gambling activities. He also stated that Grapefruit is not a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator.

According to Inquirer, the foreign employer said that the company is a financial technology solutions virtual currency exchange service provider. He then stated that they have authority to conduct business under CEZA.

Xinfeng was adamant that only three of his 277 employees were named in the mission order issued by Morente. This was upon the request of the Chinese embassy.

He also said that the three are supposedly wanted in China. They were tagged as crime suspects whose passports were canceled by the Chinese government.

Xinfeng then stated that the arrest of the remaining 274 employees is not covered by the mission order. Therefore it was illegal at the outset, he added.
