Zambales Hit by Earthquake with 5.1 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 5.1 magnitude quake in Zambales, September 5, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.

Recently, a quake has hit another part of Zambales. At 09:58 pm on September 5, 2019, Palauig, Zambales was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1.

EARTHQUAKE

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Zambales was located at 14.63°North, 116.30°East – 398 km South 77° West of Palauig. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 031 kilometers.

Based on the bulletin released by Phivolcs, there are no expected damages caused by the quake but there may be aftershocks.
