Mayonnaise has other purposes and not just as a food
Mayonnaise is mainly known as a condiment or ingredient in various recipes but it can also be used other than as a food.
Informally, this thick condiment which came from a stable emulsion of oil, egg yolk, and acid, either vinegar or lemon juice, is called Mayo. Aside from your salad dressing, sandwich, and other recipes, this can also be used in other things at home.
Here are the other uses of Mayonnaise:
Sticker residue remover
Peel the sticker first as much as you can, then apply a thick layer of mayo on the surface of the remaining part of the sticker. Let it sit for a few minutes. You can also this condiment to remove bumper stickers from your car.
Remedy for sunburn
Aside from sunburn lotion and aloe vera, mayo is also a good remedy to ease the pain and it has a soothing impact.
Makes plants shine
You can make your plants have shiny leaves just by using mayo. Dab a necessary amount of this condiment in a piece of cloth and wipe each leaf.
Hair conditioner
“The egg yolk in mayo is naturally moisturizing as well as nourishing because it is rich in fats and proteins,” according to Taste of Home. You can apply mayonnaise to your hair just like what you do in a normal conditioner. Leave it for 20 minutes and then rinse with water and cleanse with a gentle shampoo.
Cleaner
Mayo can also be a cleaner just like baking soda. It can remove fingerprints from stainless steel appliances, take watermarks away from wood furniture, and crayon markings. Put some of this condiment in a cloth and apply to the area that is needed to be cleaned.
Treatment for head lice
According to One Good Thing, you can apply mayo to the affected hair and cover completely with a shower cap. Let it stay overnight and in the morning, comb out the hair then shower.
Use to repair cuticles
The fat in mayo repair cuticles and also it strengthens the fingernails. Aside from that, this condiment can also moisten dry skin. In addition, mayonnaise can be used to soften your dry, callous feet.
Remove gum
“The natural emulsifiers [of mayonnaise] may help soften the sticky gum,” Rachel Ray said. By applying mayo, you can remove the gum without exerting much effort.
