LEILA DE LIMA – Detained Senator Leila de Lima visits her critically-ill mother in Iriga City, Camarines Sur after being granted a 48-hour furlough.

Senator Leila De Lima’s mother Norma Magistrado De Lima is suffering from dementia. She and her family did not reveal her drug charges to her mother. They just told the old woman that she went abroad for work.

Until now, the mother of the former Justice Secretary remains clueless about her state. She’s been detained for over three years now.

In a previous article, the lawyer of Leila De Lima, Raymond Baguilat, said she asked the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court (RTC) to grant her a 2-day furlough to see her ailing mother for the last time.

“Kasi ‘yung mother ni Senator De Lima na critically ill based sa mga doctor niya doon so, nag re-request kami ng opportunity sana na mabigyan ng chance si ma’am na mabisita for the last time ‘yung mom niya before she expires,” said Baguilat.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, the court granted a 48-hour furlough of Leila De Lima. The senator traveled to Iriga City on Thursday, August 15 and arrived past 7 a.m. in their family’s ancestral house.

Over the weekend, the 86-year-old mother of the politician was confined to the hospital but was released on Wednesday. Her relatives shared that they prepared for a small gathering for her visit.
