Risa Hontiveros Condemns Discrimination Of Transgender Woman In QC Mall
RISA HONTIVEROS – Senator Risa Hontiveros condemned the alleged harassment of the transgender woman in women’s comfort room in Quezon City mall.
Following a previous article, a transgender woman named Gretchen Custodio Diez filed a complaint against the mall employee who disallowed her from using the ladies toilet. She documented the incident after because she felt she was being ‘harassed’ by employees.
The 28-year-old trans woman was handcuffed an brought to the police station in Quezon City.
The trans woman’s video in her Facebook account elicited reactions from the online community including senator Risa Hontiveros. She is the voice of the LGBTQ people in the Philippine government. She files a bill that seeks equality and protection to the community.

Risa Hontiveros said the incident in the mall is unacceptable considering there is already a city ordinance that ends discrimination against LGBT people.

“THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! A lawyer from my office is w/ Gretchen now. She has my full support. I am extending whatever help she would need to seek justice.”
