The conflicts among claimants of the resource-rich area have not yet been resolved. In fact, the level of tension is currently at an alarming rate as nations are being more vocal about their opinions from each standpoints.

US made a vow to help the Philippines in case an attack happened. But China downplays the US’ promise.

The Filipino President, recently posed a challenge for the United States to make the first shot at China in the disputed waters. He criticized the US for reportedly pushing him to taunt China on the maritime territorial dispute.

In a speech during the Chen Yi Agventures Rice Processing Complex inauguration, the President also explained why we shouldn’t trigger a war with China saying:

“We can never win a war against China. Kaya iyan ang problema natin.[That’s our problem] I hope China would not overdo things also because there is always America pushing us, egging us. Tinitikoy tayo, para, ‘sige-sige.’ Ginagawa akong bait.[Pushing us to ‘Go ahead.’ Using me as bait.] Anong tingin nyo sa Pilipino, wati? [What do you think of the Filipinos? Worms?]”

He made the statements after numerous speculations from public critics that he allegedly submitted to China. The critics came up with the assumption after a deal he made with the Chinese President Xi Jinping allowing Chinese vessels to fish on the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone.

But despite the public pressing him to assert the Philippines’ UN arbitral grant to reclaim the area. But Duterte, says the move might trigger a chaotic war.

This is according to an article from ABS CBN News.

The blame was then put on the the United States for permitting the Chinese construction and militarization in the area.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
