ADULT LIFE – Here are some tips and ways to have a healthy lifestyle for adult persons aging from 18 years old and above.

According PubMed, adults are categorized into three – the young (18-35), middle-aged (36-55), and older (55 and above). “Adulting” is indeed really hard. It is where you think about life, work, family, friends, obligations, and a lot of things all at ones. This is where bills, and to some, the rent, came in the picture. And usually, at this phase, adults tend to forget about their health.

And so, here are ways and tips for adults to have a healthy lifestyle:

  • Different food consumption – A balanced food choice is a must, for our body and health need at least 40 different nutrients that one food could not supply.
  • Diet – Settle in foods with carbohydrates such as cereals, rice, pasta, potatoes, and bread – have at least one of these in every meal.
  • Saturated to Unsaturated Fat – For example, instead of frying, try boiling it, steam, or bake.
  • Fruits and Veggies – These are important! Only these food can naturally give us enough vitamins, minerals, and fibre that we need.

  • Salt and Sugar intake reduction – Too much salt might cause high blood pressure and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease while sugar might provide energy but this must be taken in moderation. Too much of something is bad – remember that.
  • Regular and controlled eating – This is the best healthy diet – eat regularly with foods in controlled portion. You can use smaller plate for a smaller serving.
  • Keep hydrated – Adults need to take at least 1.5 litres of water in a day. Sweetened drinks cannot be use as a substitute for these can also contribute to weight gain.

  • Maintain ideal body weight – Be mindful of your weight. The ideal weight depends on our gender, height, age, and genes. And being overweight can increase the risks of diabetes, heart diseases, and cancer.
  • Be active – Physical activity is a must to burn off the extra calories and get rid of the excess fats.
  • Start the change NOW – But the change should be for the better. Gradual changes is highly recommended than the abrupt and major ones.
