Students Would Get Free Railway Rides, Airport & Seaport Terminal Fees, DOTr Says

The students would get free rides from government-operated railways, airport, and seaport terminal fees, according to the Transportation Department.

Nowadays, the soaring prices of fuel products contribute to the daily burden of the Filipino people.

Filipino students are also suffering from expensive transportation fees, which they could also use for school expenses.

On Thursday (June 27, 2019), the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said that they would give students several transportation services for free.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade announced that they would give students free rides from government-operated railway lines and free terminal fees in all airports and seaports nationwide.

“Ililibre namin ang pamasahe ng lahat ng estudyante sa MRT-3, sa LRT-2, sa PNR, libre ang terminal fee sa PPA, terminal fee sa airport,” Tugade said.

DOTr said that student could avail the free rides on the following train schedules:

  • MRT-3: 5:00 am to 6:30 am and 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm
  • PNR: 5:00 am to 6:00 am and 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  • LRT-2: 4:30 am to 6:00 am and 3:00 pm to 4:40 pm 

Tugade said that the Philippine Ports Authority waived the terminal fees in ports for the students.

The transportation department said that elementary, high school, college, and students taking vocational courses can avail the free rides.
