POEA Announces Japan Will Need 60,000 Filipino Caregivers

JAPAN – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) announced that Japan will need 60,000 Filipino caregivers.

Millions of Filipinos aspire to work abroad. Even if they have to sacrifice their family, they are forced to try their luck in other countries.

We can’t deny that Philippine Peso is much lower than other successful countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, or Japan.

Most countries prefer to hire Filipinos because they are passionate about their jobs. Aside from that, Pinoys are also very caring that is why there are lots of nurses or caregivers in the Philippines.

Recently, the POEA announced that the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ needs more than 60,000 Filipino caregivers.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN, POEA administrator Bernard Olalia said even the Pinoy who have no experience in caregiving are also welcome to apply. Japan will be needing those tens of thousands of employees in the next 5 years.

 “Malaki at mataas yung kanilang aging population, so iniexpect nila in the coming years magkakaroon ng malaking labor shortage,” he said.

According to the report, the Japanese trainer disclosed that the caregivers in Japan may earn P95,776 monthly.

POEA also gave the list of qualifications needed to become a caregiver in Japan.

  • Nursing Graduate (with or w/o experience)
  • National Certificate 2 (NC-2) TESDA
  • Caregiver Training
  • N4 Level in Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Based on the report, the hopeful Pinoys may apply at the POEA, Licensed Recruitment Agency or Technical Intern Training Program (TITP). Specified Skill Worker (SSW) will also be available in the coming months.

“Both the government and he employment track wala pong placement fee… walang recruitment fee,” said Olalia.
