Water Service Interruptions on Wednesday (June 19, 2019)
The Manila Water and Maynilad Water Services Inc. announced water service interruptions in different areas due to the decreasing water level in Angat Dam.
On Wednesday (June 19, 2019), the two water companies would implement service interruptions after Angat Dam’s water level dropped.
Maynilad assistant vice president Jennifer Rufo said that around 70 percent of its water consumers would experience 8 to 16 hours service interruption.
Rufo said that the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) reduced the allocation to water distributors to 40 cubic meters per second from June 19 until June 21 (Friday).
Manila Water corporate communications head Jeric Sevilla said that the consumers along the east zone would suffer 8 to 15 hours of service interruption.
Earlier this week, the water level in Angat Dam dipped to 162 meters near to its critical level of 150 meters.
The dam requires a minimum of 180-meter water level for normal operations.
NWRB executive director Sevillo David said that the dam’s reservoir needs at least two tropical storms to replenish its water supply.
