36 People Left Dead by Recent India Heat Waves

INDIA HEAT WAVES – One of the longest heat waves recently happened in India leaving at least thirty-six (36) people dead.

Several countries across the globe are experiencing heat wave annually. Usually, these countries have oceanic climates.

One of the countries that experience heat wave is India. The said natural occurrence is a period of excessively warm weather along with high humidity.

Unfortunately, the heat wave is not just a normal warm weather. Its effect can lead to loss of lives. Most of these people get sick due to the intense heat.

India Heat Waves

In 2019, India heat waves cost lives. Based on a report on CNN, it left at least 36 people dead as confirmed by the India’s National Disaster Management Authority’s spokesperson.

According to NMDA’s Anshu Priya, it is one of the longest heat waves that has happened in the history of their country.

In Rajasthan’s western state Churu, the temperatures reportedly surpassed 50 degrees Celsius while New Delhi has experienced 48 degrees Celsius.

Based on the report, the heat waves that greatly affected the northern and central part of the country went on for thirty(30) days. Also, a delayed monsoon took place.

Instead of arriving around June 1 and 2, the monsoon reached Southern India in June 8 – seven(7) days late. On the case of the Northern India, they unfortunately have to wait for the rain still.

Speaking to CNN, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology Raghavan Krishnan, the heat waves occurring are becoming more “intense and frequent”.
