HOUSE – The House of Representatives approved on its third and final reading the bill that seeks for free dialysis treatment for the indigent patients.

Undeniably, a huge part of the Filipino populace is suffering from kidney failure. Most of these patients are in need of weekly dialysis treatment – a process that helps remove waster, salt, and excess water in the body.

However, dialysis treatment is costly in the Philippines that is why aside from the emotional struggle on the patient and the family, a financial struggle is most likely to cross the surface as well.

Recently, a relieving news for some of the patients undergoing dialysis treatment and the family of these patients has crossed the surface.

Based on an article on ABS-CBN News, the House of Representatives has approved on its third and final reading the bill that seeks for free dialysis treatments for indigents.

The said bill is the H.B. 9156 or also known as the “Comprehensive Renal Replacement Therapy Act”. It mainly seeks to provide a comprehensive renal replacement therapy for those who have kidney failure.

According to the report, aside from the free dialysis treatment for the patients and the comprehensive renal replacement therapy, the bill also expands the PhilHealth coverage on kidney transplant replacement therapy.

Furthermore, the Bill also seeks for No Balance Billing (NBB) policy. It also mandates the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to provide for the other dialysis treatments after the patient has consumed the PhilHealth package.
