Bacolod City To Hold 2nd Chicken Inasal Festival

BACOLOD CITY – Following the success of Bacolod City Chicken Inasal Festival last year, the city is now preparing for its 2nd edition.

The capital of Negros Occidental is Bacolod City. The city is packed with very friendly people that’s why it’s dubbed as the “City of Smiles.” It is also the home of the famous Masskara Festival.

Chicken Inasal or grilled chicken is one of Bacolod City’s well-known delicacies. You can see food stalls on almost every street in the city.

The chicken inasal is a marinated piece of chicken mixed with pepper, vinegar, and other spices. It is grilled using coals.

Today, the Bacolod specialty dish is has become very popular. In fact, the restaurant chain ‘Mang Inasal’ serves this yummy dish all over the country.

Based on a report from Philippine News Agency, Bacolod City set to host the 2nd Chicken Inasal Festival this coming May 25.

City councilor and head of the festival organizing committee, Cindy Rojas, said 25 establishments pledged to participate on the celebration.

“We will have the same length of grills, but we will add more chicken,” said Rojas.

According to the report, this year’s Chicken Inasal Festival will feature 300 meters of barbecue grills. The stalls will line up along Araneta Street.

Cindy Rojas said the festival will now include the ‘Sawsawan Contest’ and the ‘Fantasy Chicken Costume’ competition.

She also stated that senior citizens were also invited to the venue for the boodle fight.

Based on the report, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the chicken inasal started in Bacolod city.  

“This festival proclaims to the world that this is the original, this is the best, and it belongs to Bacolod,” he said.
