James Reid Defends Decision Of Saying “No” To Idol Auditionee Luke Baylon

Idol judge James Reid defends himself following criticisms.

JAMES REID – The Idol judge James Reid breaks his silence in defense against bashing received following his decision to an auditionee.

In a previous article, the three of the four Idol Philippines judges such as James Reid, Moira Dela Torre, and Vice Ganda got badly lambasted online for letting go of the Reggae singer and an Idol hopeful as well Luke Baylon. Only Regine Velasquez believed in him and gave him a nod.

The three judges had quite similar comments in pointing out his weaknesses as a singer such as not ready yet and “walang dating”. In order to proceed to the next stage, the auditionee must obtain three nods but in the case of the Reggae singer, he received three “Nos” which technically means that his journey stops there.

Watch his audition below:

And here’s what Reid has stated in defense of himself over decision:

Like I said, Luke Baylon is a good singer but we’re looking for the total package. Wait till you see the 12 finalists. You’ll see why I said he wasn’t ready. For now, I wish Luke all the success is his music career. That rendition of If I Ain’t Got You was sick.”

“You have no idea how hard it is to crush peoples dreams right in front of them. That’s the burden we carry as judges to try and give one special person a chance of a lifetime. Just wait. The auditions isn’t even the hardest part.”

And here are some of the comments of the netizens based on the posts of the Idol judge:

@celcasaje:
Minsan lang magsalita to. Ibig sabihin he can’t stand the bashing na. Grabe naman kasi. Kayo kaya magjudge!

@NardBem:
